No matter what line of work you are involved in, receiving adequate rest is very important. Jesus also emphasized the importance of rest.
In Mark 6:7-13, Jesus sent out His twelve disciples onto the mission field. Jesus began to send them out two by two, and gave them power over unclean spirits. In verses 12-13 the bible says:
12 So they went out and preached that people should repent. 13 And they cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many who were sick, and healed them.
After the twelve apostles finished their mission trip, they regathered to Jesus. Listen to what the bible says in verses 30-32:
30 Then the apostles gathered to Jesus and told Him all things, both what they had done and what they had taught. 31 And He said to them, “Come aside by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while.” For there were many coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat. 32 So they departed to a deserted place in the boat by themselves.
Whether you are in full-time ministry or a full-time mother, you must find a quite, deserted place regularly to refresh in the Lord. I hope you are able to do that today.
What does it look like to you to rest in the Lord? Perhaps you want to turn on some soft instrumental music, sit on the couch, and let God speak to you. Maybe you want to enjoy a walk in nature with the Heavenly Father, Jesus, and Holy Spirit. How about a wonderful walk on the beach? Position yourself today to rest in the Lord. I really encourage you to spend at least 15-minutes today resting in the Lord. I also encourage you to write your experiences down on a piece of paper or in a journal.
