Finding Strength in Uncertain Times

In the month of October, Israel declared war on Hamas. This has put into motion a number of frightening scenarios that can cause a person much anxiety. In the Bible, King David experienced a war that was devastating to him and his people. David’s city was burned with fire, and their wives, sons, and daughters were taken captive (1 Samuel 30:3). David and his soldiers were greatly distressed, but David strengthened himself in the Lord his God (1 Samuel 30:6).

One way to strengthen yourself in the Lord is by holding onto and declaring Scriptures. I want to share with you a few verses you can use if you find yourself growing fearful during these uncertain times.

Psalm 91:9-10 (NKJV): Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place, no evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling.

Psalm 23:4 (NKJV): Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

Exodus 14:13-14 (NKJV): And Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”
