September is always an exciting month. It is the transition month between summer and fall, and the month both Dawn and I celebrate our birthdays. As our birthdays approached, it made me think about birthdays in general. Unfortunately, I have found many people lately longing for the day of their death more than their birthday. I can understand the desire to leave this earth if they know where they are going once they depart this earth. However, many people are longing to depart based out of depression and misery.
In the book of Ecclesiastes, King Solomon wrote in 7:1 saying, "A good name is better than precious ointment, and the day of death than the day of one’s birth." Solomon basically said it is better to die than live, but he wrote this book in a place of deep depression and utter misery because he had forsaken the Lord and followed his own rebellious path.
The reality is, your life and the day you were born was very well thought out by the Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, and Holy Spirit. Hear the encouraging words from the Bible, for they apply to you as well. Jeremiah 1:5a: "Before I [God] formed you in the womb I knew you..." Psalm 139:13-14b: “For You [God] formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made..." I encourage you not to long to depart from this earth before your time and destiny is fulfilled.
