Dawn and I were invited to a home group. We had never been to this particular gathering before. They spontaneously asked me to share a quick message. That was brave of them since they had never met me before, but they did know we have been missionaries all over the world.
The moment they had asked me to speak, the Lord dropped Proverbs 24:11 into my spirit. In the New King James Version this verse reads, “Deliver those who are drawn toward death, and hold back those stumbling to the slaughter.”
Earlier in the meeting, the group was talking about how they might be able to help the homeless population in the surrounding area. They agreed it was a sensitive issue because the homeless need freedom from their hang ups and not just another hand out. I began to share the importance of setting the captives free. I encouraged the group to look for and minister to those who are drawn towards death and stumbling to the slaughter.
I would also encourage you to do the same. There are people all around us who are in route to harm themselves or other people. Dawn and I have stopped people in transit to commit both murder and suicide. As followers of Jesus Christ, we can intercept their plans and minister healing, forgiveness, and freedom.
